#ReelOrkneyTweetup - second helpings

There'll be another #ReelOrkneyTweetup from 08:30 - 10:00 (AM!!) on Tue 15 May 2012, The Reel, Kirkwall. If you're planning to come along, please tweet a hello to @ReelOrkneyTwtup , or just turn up on the day. Coffee and bacon sandwiches are available from 08:30 (you can get one of  each for £3).

After this occasion, we will try to have a "ferry friendly" timeslot (maybe 16:00 on Monday, as there are slightly later ferries to the north isles on that day in the summer). If you have thoughts on the time/day/week that we might best meet, please tweet or comment !

If you have an idea for a subject for discussion, please leave a comment below - otherwise, speak up on the day.

There were 4 of us present at The Reel for the first early-morning session ( @thelongship , @davecannell , @amy_may and @sweynh ). Two others ( @ploverha  from Eday, and @cyberdoyle from Lancashire ) tuned in via bambuser live broadcast (if the embedded videos below do not work, you can see them here and here). The first broadcast was a general invitation and hello:

The second live broadcast was a chance for the 4 of us in Kirkwall to say hello. Unfortunately, bambuser is "broadcast only" for video, so @ploverha and @cyberdoyle could only use the text comment features of bambuser to say hello. Those of us in Kirkwall, were not particularly expert (!) in bambuser, and did not really succeed in bringing our 2 remotees fully into the event, but we will work on that:

Apart from that, we had coffee and tea (and at least 1 bacon roll!), and a very general discussion about social media, IslandGovCamp (25-27 May 2012, in Orkney and on the internet), and the crucial importance of broadband upload speeds for effective webcasting or interactive video.Maybe some of the tweople who were there might comment further below, or blog about the meeting elsewhere!

Giving a fancy name to something

@MarwickSocialMe and I (@sweynh) are going to meet at The Reel from 08:00 on Tuesday morning to talk about social media in Orkney.

Please join us if you are interested.

Please add a comment below if there is something you'd like to discuss (even if you cannot join us at that time, we might pick a more convenient time for the next one!).

We've picked The Reel because is open early, has great wifi, and (hopefully) won't mind selling a few coffees and bacon rolls (£3) to any (or either) of us that wants one!
